Readers enjoy playing detective, piecing together clues alongside characters in intricate literary puzzles. High-stakes plots offer intense emotional engagement and safe adrenaline from the comfort of an armchair. From cozy village mysteries to dark psychological thrillers, mysteries are studied by academics, promoted by celebrities, and discussed in book clubs worldwide.
What is the draw of these stories, combining logical deduction and atmospheric dread? Winters Friends of the Library invites everyone to learn more at a special author talk with three award-winning mystery writers on Thursday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. at the Winters Community Library, 708 Railroad Avenue. Catriona McPherson, Jennifer K. Morita, and Laura Jensen Walker will share insights on their writing lives and the mystery genre. Whether you are an avid mystery reader or new to the genre, it will be fascinating to hear what these authors have to say about the challenges and pleasures of writing mysterious fiction.
Following the talk, attendees may enjoy refreshments and chat with the authors and fellow readers. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
