The Yolo County Master Gardeners have entered into an agreement with the Yolo County Library and the Winters Join Unified School District to develop, install, and maintain a community teaching garden at the Winters Community Library.

The garden will provide learning opportunities on low water use plants, plants that provide year round habitat for pollinators, a space where visitors can sit and enjoy the garden, educational opportunities for school children’s groups, a space to train community members in ongoing garden maintenance, and a place to hold workshops on a variety of topics.
Master gardeners Anne Scott and Stephanie Myers will be responsible for overseeing garden design, installation, and maintenance along with community volunteers.
Winters Friends of the Library (WFoL) has provided an initial budget to establish the garden including installing irrigation, constructing pathways, and planting.

In October 2019 a special Garden Open House was held to celebrate the new Teaching Garden at the library. Yolo County Master Gardeners were on hand to answer gardening questions and share information about pollinators. Special activities for kids included a story time and gardening craft. Light refreshments were served.
