Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Congressman Mike Thompson, and Bob Schneider celebrate the expansion of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.
The WFoL Annual Meeting is an opportunity to meet fellow library supporters, to learn about what we have accomplished this year and how you can get involved, and to hear a fascinating talk about a beautiful open space resource right in our backyard.
Our speaker will be Bob Schneider, a local conservation hero who spearheaded a team of people and organizations working to designate the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument. Dedicated by President Obama in 2015, the Monument was expanded on May 2 of this year by President Biden and now protects 344,476 acres of the California Coast Ranges in Napa, Yolo, Solano, Lake, Colusa, Glenn, and Mendocino counties. The expansion includes a striking 11-mile ridgeline, sacred to the Patwin people, that was previously known as Walker Ridge and is now renamed Molok Luyuk, or “Condor Ridge” in the Patwin language. It holds geologic wonders, world-renowned biological diversity, and a rich history of human cultures.
Come at 6:30 for drinks and snacks and socializing. The meeting will start at 7:00. There will be a brief year in review presentation and election of officers for 2025, followed by the speaker. There will be time following the talk for questions and discussion.
