Summer is over, but fall is prime planting season! Join Winters Friends of the Library (WFoL) for a Garden Open House and Native Plant Sale on Saturday, October 30 from 1 to 4 PM in the Winters Community Library parking lot. This WFoL event will be held in conjunction with the Master Gardeners of Yolo County and Miridae Living Labs (https://www.miridaelivinglabs.org). Miridae Living Labs is a local non-profit dedicated to using native plants as tools to promote education, research and community engagement.
Winters Friends of the Library will offer gardening books for sale with proceeds to benefit the Winters Community Library. In addition, WFoL will distribute free children’s craft kits and native Central Valley wildflower seed packets (seed provided by Hedgerow Farms). Miridae Living Labs will roll up with the Miridae Mobile Nursery (https://www.miridaelivinglabs.org/mobilenursery), a box truck converted to a nursery on wheels with a variety of California native plants for sale.
During the event, the Winters Community Library Teaching Garden will be open for visitors to tour and see California native plants. Not sure of what to plant in your garden? Master Gardeners of Yolo County will be available to answer your gardening questions. Don’t miss this chance to learn about the benefits of California natives and add them to your garden landscaping.
