Meet dedicated Winters Friends of the Library (WFoL) volunteer, Marylou Linvill!
Marylou says:
In my working life, I have been a professional puppeteer, and more recently, a teacher at Douglass Middle School in Woodland. WFoL is my favorite organization in Winters, and over the years, I’ve held different organizing positions as a friend of our library.
My favorites are for our community events: Like Winters Shakespeare Workshop (WSW), which I have produced and co produced for 20 (yikes!) years.
I also love to co chair the Family Holiday Festival, and volunteer at any public WFOL event, especially if it includes some performance (like the Gazebo Concerts in July, and author talks, when they happen).
20 years ago, Denise Cottrell and I began WSW as a way to share our delight in the mad, creative process of putting on a show with teens- I think we agreed that one of the best things in life is working too hard in good company toward a worthy goal. We wanted our children and their friends to share the joy we had experienced as performers.
As a volunteer organizer of WSW and WFOL events, I welcome all energies and enthusiasm in each of our projects. If you are interested volunteering for WSW or the Family Holiday Festival, don’t be shy! Dive in at WFOL. org, or phone me at 530-795-3476.
