Congratulations to Lura Meyer for winning this year’s Winters Friends of the Library Big Day of Giving Donor Thank-You Basket!
When asked why she supports WFoL, Lura had this to say:
When I first moved to Winters in 2001 I didn’t know anyone except my friend and college roommate, Sally Paul. She suggested I join the Friends of the Library. What a great piece of advice! I met lots of lovely and interesting people. We were back in the old location where I participated in several activities for kids – reading to them and showing young ones how to check out books.
Later I helped with the spring tree sale and the book booth at the Christmas Event for the whole community. There are lots of fun and satisfying ways to volunteer.
The new library was a real surprise when I first saw it. Now I take out-of-town visitors to see how wonderful it is with all the computers for anyone to use and the hotspot to use your own.
