Just as Winter turns towards Spring with regularity, The Quiz Show is returning at the end of February.
Friday, February 23rd, the Winters Friends of the Library will be holding its nearly annual fundraiser, The Quiz Show, at 7pm at the Community Center.
Are you interested in trivia/? How much do you know? What is the capital of North Dakota? Who is the President of Mexico? What was the name of Henry the VIII’s first wife? Who was born earlier, Vivaldi, Bach, or Mozart? If you think you know these answers, gather a team and test your knowledge.
How the WFoL Quiz Show Works
Teams of five will pay an entrance fee of $100 to try to win the prize money of $300, and get their names on a perpetual trophy proclaiming them the Winters Quiz Show champions.
Entrance forms and game rules will be available and fees collected at the Winters Branch Library beginning February 1st. For an extra charge of $20, teams may sign up at the door the night of the event.
Teams can be sponsored by organizations or businesses, or can be groups of smart friends willing to have fun. Single players may cobble teams together the night of The Quiz Show. All-student teams will be sponsored by WFoL.
There will be three rounds of play. Questions will be from a variety of categories ranging from history, literature, science, and Winters’ trivia. In the first round, team members will work together to come up with answers to a variety of questions. The top five or six teams will continue on to the next level where teams can use strategy to help them gain more points while answering tough questions.
After several rounds of play, and a break for refreshments, the top two teams will go head to head in the championship round.
Upcoming Practice Sessions
To get in the groove, there will be two practice rounds to be held Sunday, February 18th and Tuesday, February 20th at 7pm, at the downtown tasting room of Berryessa Gap Winery. Anyone wishing to participate is free to come. Wine will be available for purchase.
Just Want to Cheer on the Teams?
Those interested in being at the event, but not participating, are invited to come watch. A five-dollar donation for spectators is requested at the door. Refreshments, wine, beer, and sodas will be for sale.
Hope to see you there!
