Sign Ups For the 2018 Winters Shakespeare Workshop Now Open

Teens ages 13-19, can sign up to perform in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream! Be part of the first Winters Shakespeare Workshop production on our new Park Playground Stage in summer 2018. 

Sign ups are now open for Winters Shakespeare Workshop (WSW) 2018 season.  WSW is a 5-week intensive acting camp open to all teens ages 13 through 19.  This year on the new park playground stage, actors will create a complete production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with live music.

Actors train from 6:30 to 9:30PM five evenings/week, Sunday through Thursday, beginning on Sunday, May 17, in Winters City Park, and ending with two free public performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21st, at 8 PM.  The cost for this intensive performing workshop is $250.  There are scholarships available for actors.
Now in our 20th season WSW is proud to announce that our directing team this year will be award winning director, Russell St. Clair, who has directed more than 10 previous WSW productions, and Emma Pfanner Johnson, an experienced actor, writer, and teacher, who performed in seven WSW shows while growing up in Winters.  Music director, choreographer, and acting coaches complete the WSW 2018 staff.
Teens will bring Shakespeare’s text to life as they break out their performing skills, speaking, dancing, practicing physical comedy, and stage combat. Some choose to work on set, props, costumes in their afternoons, others have participated in community outreach to younger children in the Winters community.  The final performance, offered to the Winters community for free in our city park, is a high energy show for the entire community. 

Workshop Dates: 

Sign-ups: Now through June 9

Reading for Parts: Sunday, May 20, at 2:00 PM in the Winters Branch Library at 708 Railroad Avenue

Rehearsals: June 17- July 19, Sun-Thurs, 6:30-9:30 PM. 

Performances:  July 20 and 21, Fri and Sat at 8 pm in Winters City Park at the corner of 4th and Main Streets.

 Cost: The fee for this summer’s workshop/production is $250.  Scholarships are available.
