The Winters Friends of the Library summer concert series kicks off with a free outdoor performance by Peter Petty and his Dubble P Boys on Thursday, July 7, 7:00–8:30 p.m. at the Rotary Park Gazebo, on Main Street at Railroad Avenue, in front of the Community Center in Winters.
Peter Petty and his Dubble P Boys is one of the most creatively entertaining and versatile Country & Western-themed bands around. Bandleader Peter Petty has gathered an outstanding group of talented players to create this Cowboy Cabaret. They perform with an eye to the traditional, but also with tongue in cheek. Featuring some of the most talented titans of old-timey hokum and cowboy jazz in the area, Peter Petty and his Dubble P Boys is Peter Petty on lead vocals/guitar/wash-tub/washboard, Sasha Prawalsky (Miss Lonley Hearts) on guitar and vocals, Geoff Miller (Twilight Drifters) on electric honky-tonk guitar, Bob Armstrong (Sourdough Slim) on banjo/slide guitar/mandolin/saw/vocals, Richie Lawrence (The Yolos) on accordian/piano/vocals, Keith Cary (Bonanza King) on bass fiddle, Giorgi Khokhobashvili (Jazz Gitan) on fiddle, Mark Miller (Alkalai Flats) on snare drum & brushes. They’re a barnyard symphony!
The performance is part of the Winters Friends of the Library summer concert series. WFoL has presented free outdoor concerts every Thursday in July since 1998. This year the series will continue with Bonanza King playing western swing, old country, jazz and blues on July 14, Triism performing jazz standards and pop tunes on July 21, and Los Tres de Winters playing Norteño-style music on July 28.
Invite your friends and neighbors, bring a blanket or lawn chairs or sit on the grass, sip a cool drink, and enjoy some fine live music on a summer evening. The Friends of the Library will have delicious refreshments for sale, and all proceeds will support the Winters Library. This year’s concert series is co-sponsored by Waste Management.
