Spend your summer evenings on stage! Make new friends as you create and perform a complete production of a play by Shakespeare! Actors, ages 13-19 can sign up now for the 2016 Winters Shakespeare Workshop – a 5-week intensive performing workshop, ending in a production of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare.
Director and actor, Andrew Fridae will return this summer to lead the 2016 Winters Shakespeare Workshop. As he did last summer, Fridae will build an ensemble production, training teen actors to depend on each other and work together as they develop a range of performing skills including physical comedy, mastering language, stage combat, and special effects. Fridae will build this 5-week workshop toward the complete production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, on the stage in Winters City Park, Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16 at 8 PM. There will be a live orchestra and opportunities to sing, and dance, as well as to develop acting skills. Musical director, acting, dancing, and combat coaches from Winters and UCD will complete the workshop training team.
Now in our 18th season, Winters Shakespeare Workshop offers teens an intensive blast of training in all aspects of theatrical production. Five evenings a week for 5 weeks, actors hone their performing skills working each other, and with a professional director, coaches, and musicians. Great friendships are made over the summer. Some actors also choose to work on set, props, costumes in their afternoons, or to participate in community outreach by sharing performing skills with younger children in the Winters community. The final performance, offered to the Winters community for free in our city park, is a high energy show for the entire community.

Performances of Twelfth Night are July 15 and 16, Fri and Sat at 8 pm in Winters City Park at the corner of 4th and Main Streets.
