The Winters Friends of the Library annual Membership Drive kicked off Monday, November 2, with their annual gathering . Anyone who joined or renewed their membership at the event was entered into a prize drawing held that evening. Even if you missed that night, you haven’t missed out on joining for the year 2016 and the benefits of becoming a member of the Winters Friends of the Library.
New Perks for Members
New this year for all 2016 members (new and renewing) is a membership card that offers exclusive promotions at businesses throughout the Winters community (in addition to the discount offered to book sales at the used book store).
This incentive program was not only embraced by the WFoL Board of Directors but by participating community business partners as well. Jean Rodriguez, co-owner of The Scoop frozen yogurt shop is happy to be part of the new program saying,
“We appreciate all the free educational programs the library has to offer the Winters community and we are glad we can do our part to help keep those programs going.”
Board co-President, Linda Glick, is thrilled that so many businesses have already signed on.
“We are unbelievably appreciative of the support that the Winters Library has received for this new incentive we are offering our members. This program would not be possible without the participation from key businesses in town. We really hope to see an increase in membership this year and are excited to work with new partners in the community.”
Members for the 2016 year will receive the new membership card that will give them access to promotions at the following businesses in town: Ace Hardware, Anytime Fitness, Buckhorn Restaurant, The Scoop, Steady Eddy’s, Turkovich Family Winery, and Winters Health Care.
How can you become a WFoL Member?
To become a member, please visit the wfol.org site and click on the “Join WFoL” tab and scroll down to the form section or stop by the library during normal business hours and request a membership form. Membership to WFoL is a minimum donation of $10 at the “Paperback” level and increases from there. In addition to the exclusive access to promotions at the businesses listed above, WFoL members are invited to participate at WFoL functions throughout the year and they get early admission to the annual tree sale held in March.
Funds donated to the Winters Friends of the Library help fund many necessary programs at our Winters Library. The Winters Library provides people in the Winters community free access to the internet, information, technology, and provides a non-commercial space to gather, learn and research opportunities.
Annually, WFoL provides at least: $10,000 to support and enhance library operations; $5,000 to purchase library materials; $2,500 to support library programs and $2,000 to enhance technology. Additional funds are donated for needs identified by library staff which can include: landscaping, building improvements, and support for all the amazing educational programs the library is able to put on.
Businesses in Winters that would like to learn more about how they can be part of the membership incentive program can email WFoL representative Carol Scianna at Volunteer@wfol.org. The deadline for any business that wishes to participate in the 2016 membership card is December 10, 2015.
