My name is Maria Molina. I have lived in Winters for more than nine years. I really love this town.
I remember the first time when I went to the library. I was walking with my son Mateo and he told me that he wanted go inside. I was very nervous because I didn’t speak English and I’d never been in a library before in my life. Now I can say that going there was the best decision I could take. The people who work there were very friendly and some spoke Spanish. They gave me a lot of information about all the programs and resources they had. I continued going one or two times a week.
After many years, one day I was reading with my kids and a person that works there told me that there was a English class. I started this class. At first I remember that we only were three, but after some months we were five, and then more and more. The teacher looked for more volunteers that could help teaching. The class was really good, we didn’t only learn English in this group, we found information and help with any things that we needed.
In my experience I can tell about how the Teacher Reavie helped me to get my Citizenship. She is an amazing person that is always trying to help anyone. She opened a specific class only for people who want to obtain their Citizenship. I went to the class and thanks to it, obtaining my Citizenship was easy for me because this class really prepared me for the test. So I only have good things to tell about the volunteers that are in the library trying to help people and donating their time.
Thanks so much,
Maria Molina
