2020 has been a very challenging year for all of us and WFOL has really missed being able to host all of our wonderful events. However, one of our most beloved programs has not been canceled this year and that is our Books for Babies program.

One of the ways WFOL tries to instill a love of reading at an early age is by try to welcome all new babies to Winters with a Books for Babies gift box. The box contains two board books, a sweet little t-shirt with our WFOL logo, and (hand knitted hat provided by the senior knitters) and information about the Winters Community Library programs and services and other valuable information regarding the importance of reading to your infant.
One of my favorite ways of finding new babies is checking in with parents
whenever I see them out and about with their new ones in a stroller or on a bike, making sure that they have received their gift box and if not, I sign them up. This year between the smoky air this summer and the ongoing pandemic, families have been hunkering down more. We usually distribute around 80 or so boxes per year, however with fewer families out and about, we are down to only 50 boxes given out in 2020. If we have missed you and you have a new addition or you know of someone who has a new baby, please contact us or fill out the attached form. Our gift boxes are available in English or Spanish and are provided to any infant up to 2 years old that lives in the Winters community.
