Join Us to Create a Virtual Performance of A Comedy with Errors! Open to All!

Teens, almost teens, used to be teens and families are invited to create a crowd sourced, virtual performance of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors with Winters Shakespeare Workshop 2020. Interested individuals and families may sign up at the Winters Friends of the Library website, wfol.org, Creators, actors, musicians, techies can find out more at an informational Zoom meeting on Wed, June 10 at 6:30PM, information at wfol.org.
For nearly 20 years, Winters Shakespeare Workshop has offered a 5 week intensive performing camp for teens culminating free outdoor public performances of a play by Shakespeare with live music and dance. This year, due to the virus, and restrictions on public gatherings, WSW will be offering 5 weeks of online training, projects and practice, followed by virtual performances which will be available on the Winters Friends of the Library YouTube channel, and at the WFOL website after July 18, 2020.
Beginning on June 14, there will be a weekly challenge project as well as regular training/rehearsal for workshop participants For example, in week 1, participants will be challenged to create a stop action animation, or video clip, or zoom narrative of the back story that led to central problem in The Comedy of Errors. They can use mime, masks, puppets, or a song to narrate the story. Week 2, participants will choose a twin, and pairs of twins will make film clips demonstrating their ‘twin-ness’- is it the clothes? The way they walk? The mustache? Weekly videos will be shared on the WFOL website and at our Winters Friends of the Library Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa9H_9Y47mqNVtVlOK90Sdg.
Winters Shakespeare Workshop 2020 will begin on June 14, Sunday, and run through July 16, Sunday through Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30PM, online. After edit, the final performance will be available to view on the WFoL website at wfol.org.
This year, WSW invites teens, preteens, families, community members to jump in to this crowd sourced event! Act!, Sing!, Dance! Play Music! Celebrate the Winters community through your creation. There will be no charge for this year’s workshop, thanks to the generosity of the Winters Friends of the Library.
