Know any new babies in Winters?
WFoL sends any new baby in Winters a free Books for Babies gift box filled with everything a baby needs to start enjoying books and a lifetime of literacy!
Each box contains:
- two new baby-appropriate books
- baby T-shirt with our WFoL cartoon logo
- a hand knitted hat provided by the senior knitters
- reading tips and book suggestions
- a one-year gift membership to Winters Friends of the Library for the whole family
- an application for a Winters Library card and library services information
Brochures discussing the importance of reading to your infant, early eye exams, and other services available in the county to support families are included. The information and books are available in English or Spanish.
New babies are found via local newspaper birth announcements, a display in the local health care office, word of mouth and asking new mothers if they would like a box when encountered out and about or at community events. Volunteers assemble and distribute gift boxes. The target age group is 2 years and under.
